Wall of h'Arts

At the beginning of a new year I always like to start with a whole level/ school art work collaboration. This term I decided to make a 'Wall of h'Arts', with a focus on tint and shade. After a few lessons of learning about tint and shade and students mixing and creating colours, they painted a heart shape. The background and foreground needed to be painted in different colours and both needed to show a progression in tint to shade. Students learnt that mixing colour with white creates a tint and mixing a colour with black makes a shade.
The finished product turned out really well. These were created by students in grades 3-6.
